What is the capacity?

Our event capacity is limited to 50 people.

How do I get the keys?

No keys needed. Our lab attendant will let you in, show you around, and close the space. Lab members will be expected to open and close the space themselves with their keyless entry code for all bookings following their first day.

What tables and chairs do you have?

We have 10 benches and 4 stools which can seat 50. We will provide one desk and desk chair to use as workspace or event check-in.

Are shoes allowed in the space?

The dance floor is sacred! Street shoes are not allowed, so please remove them before entering the dance floor. This applies to all participants and observers. For fitness classes, participants can wear sneakers. High heels and stilettos are completely forbidden on the dance floor. Tap, flamenco, and Irish Step Dancing shoes are also not allowed. For event rentals that plan to have guests wear shoes, there is an additional $150 fee for rugs and floor cleaning.

Can I put tape on the floor?

You can only use spike tape. Please remove all tape at the end of your rental session. Please do not scrape the tape of the floor with a sharp object or use any abrasive materials.

When can I load in my materials/props for my rental?

Do not arrive early with items for drop-off. We cannot store them in a safe space overnight. You must load in, set up, break down, and load out within your rental time period.

Are there showers in The Movement Lab?

No, but we do have two single bathrooms.

Do I have to rent my hours consecutively or can they be broken up through the day?

Your rental can be consecutive or spread out (subject to availability) over the course of one day. For example, if you wanted to host two yoga classes in one day, you could step out for a break in between without it costing your rental time. However, you must communicate and confirm with Lab staff in advance if you plan to do this.

What is your cancellation policy?

Renters may cancel their booking up until 7 days before the event and will receive a full refund (including all fees). Renters who cancel their booking between 7 days and 24 hours before the event start time can receive a 50% refund (excluding any additional fees) of their rental rate. Booking cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the event start time are not refundable.

What is prohibited from the space?

  • No pets

  • No smoking or vaping

  • No fire or open flames

  • No drugs

  • No racist or discriminatory behavior/language

  • No nails, tape, or staples on walls

  • No glitter

  • No sit-down meals can be hosted in the space (snacks and appetizers only please).
